Research Team
The members of this research team have their own research
activity (not necessarily related to sparrows), details of which can
be found on their personal homepages. However, the people listed on
this page are more or less regular coworkers. The projects about sparrows
are directed by Drs. András Liker and Zoltán Barta.

András Liker is a lecturer at the Department of Limnology, University of Veszprém. He is the head of the house sparrow research. He works in field and lab experiments and does philogenetic comparative analyses in the following topics: (1) the social behaviour of birds, dominance relationships, social foraging strategies, reproductive strategies (2) the evolution of melanin-based coloration of birds and (3) sexual differences in adult mortality in birds. He supervises the work of several PhD students (see below some of them). Further details can be found on his personal homepage. E-mail

Zoltán Barta is a lecturer at the Department of Evolutionary Zoology and Human Biology, University of Debrecen. He is the chief of the tree sparrow research and he is the "modelling master" of the team. His research activity includes state-dependent dynamic game modelling of alternative foraging strategies, parental care, avian moult and migration. He is also involved in field and laboratory experiments on social foraging. He is the supervisor of several PhD students (see below some of them). Further details can be found on his personal homepage. E-mail.

Ádám Z. Lendvai is a postdoc at the Centre d'Études
Biologiques de Chizé, France. He investigates hormonal response
to stress, social foraging tactic use and plumage ornaments related
to dominance rank in house sparrows. He is also interested in population
dynamics and survival modelling of a wild house sparrow population.
More on this and other resarch activities can be found on his homepage .
He is also the host of this web page.

Krisztián Szabó is former PhD student of the
University of Debrecen (supervisors: Barta Zoltán & András Liker).
Now he is at the Biological Research
Centre in Szeged. Check out his homepage!

Veronika Bókony is a former PhD student at the
Department of Ecology, Szent Istvan
University (supervisor: András Liker). She is devoted to the study of
avian coloration. She has already carried out nice work in this topic,
using philogenetic comparative analyses.

Ferenc Mónus is a PhD student at the Department
of Evolutionary Zoology and Human Biology,University of Debrecen (supervisors:
Barta Zoltán & András Liker). His work focuses on the social foraging
strategies of tree sparrows. For more information, see his personal
homepage. E-mail.
